Rúben Amorim has five stars as injury doubts as Manchester United face Everton in the Premier League during a Sunday afternoon Old Trafford fixture.

Rúben Amorim is set for his second Premier League test as Manchester United‘s head coach, with Everton visiting Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

United have opened Amorim’s tenure with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town and a dramatic 3-2 win over Bodo/Glimt, building on the groundwork laid by Ruud van Nistelrooy before his arrival.

This fixture will be Amorim’s first Premier League match at Old Trafford, following his managerial debut at the stadium on Thursday. With United eager to climb the standings, a strong result is vital.

Currently 12th in the league with 16 points, United are six points off Arsenal and Chelsea in the race for a top-four Champions League spot.

Five stars are doubts

Amorim has five players who are either doubts or unavailable for the tie, with four centre-backs potentially unable to play.

Although Harry Maguire is back in training, Amorim admitted that the England international was not ready to face Bodo/Glimt, and is therefore a doubt against Everton.

Despite being in training, Leny Yoro’s fitness is being carefully managed. It is more likely that he will join the squad for the first time next week—although the medical department will decide.

Victor Lindelöf has not trained since he came off injured for Sweden during the international break. Jonny Evans was not in training on Wednesday, and no updates have been given on either player.

Toby Collyer is the fifth player who remains out, but he is thought to be undergoing fitness rehabilitation following an injury with the England U20s in October.

Some are worried that Kobbie Mainoo has a slight issue after not making an appearance off the bench in either tie since his return, but there is not thought to be a problem, and he is simply working on his fitness.

In positive news, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are back in action, while Mason Mount is fit to play again.

Amorim has explained that he will need to rotate his team often to ensure ample training time under his new system. This will likely benefit the squad’s general fitness as they are afforded rest.
