Manchester United starlet now “close” to injury return after heartbreaking February moment

One Manchester United starlet is now close to returning to full fitness following a series of injuries and a heartbreaking moment that saw him return to Carrington earlier than expected.

Manchester United’s Academy has been the one shining light in what has otherwise been a bleak 18 months for the club.

Despite last season ending with an FA Cup win, Erik ten Hag was dismissed in October, and Rúben Amorim has yet to bring consistency back to the first team.

But at youth level, there’s real cause for optimism. The U18s have been in outstanding form, highlighted by a dramatic 3-2 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates in the FA Youth Cup.

The club have also added to their youth ranks with promising signings like Chido Obi and Sekou Kone, while the likes of Gabriele Biancheri and Jaydan Kamason are beginning to turn heads after steady progress through the Academy system.

Gore’s heartbreaking injury tale

United’s current crop of Academy players is the brightest cohort the club has seen in a significant amount of time, with midfielder Dan Gore one of the early favourites to break through.

The player was impressive during the 2023 pre-season but quickly suffered an injury. Although he went on loan to Port Vale in January 2024 for the remainder of the campaign, he injured his quadricep on his debut and did not play again.

Then, after recovering from the muscle injury, Gore was dealt another heartbreaking moment after having to undergo surgery after a “freak” shoulder dislocation in June 2024 and subsequently missing the 2024 pre-season tour of the United States.

The player returned after five months out in November, and many hoped for the best when he joined Rotherham on loan in the latest transfer window.

He impressed fans on his debut on 1 February against Birmingham City, but he quickly returned to United after suffering a foot injury.

Gore handed positive injury update

However, in a new report from the BBC, there has been a significant positive update on the player’s situation.

The report, from United correspondent Simon Stone, states that Gore is now closing in on a return to full fitness, and there is hope he will be able to play for Rotherham again before the end of the campaign.

It is said that there is yet to be a decision made on whether Gore will go through the final stages of his recovery at United or return to the League One side, but that it is anticipated he will be able to return toa action before the season closes.

Rotherham have nine fixtures to play before their season ends with a clash against Peterborough on 3 May.
