Man Utd injury news and return dates vs Nottingham Forest as Rúben Amorim gives Harry Maguire update

Manchester United will be hoping for some injury returns as Rúben Amorim takes training ahead of a Premier League tie on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester United are in fantastic form as Rúben Amorim prepares his squad to face Nottingham Forest away from home on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.

Amorim’s Reds have won their last three fixtures in a row, defeating Sunderland 2-0, Liverpool 2-1, and demolishing Brighton 4-2 at Old Trafford last weekend.

Meanwhile, Forest are continuing to have a very mixed campaign, with the Tricky Trees already on their third manager of the campaign in Sean Dyche.

United currently sit sixth in the Premier League table after having leapfrogged Liverpool with their three wins in a row. At the same time, Forest are 18th with just five points after nine games, setting up what will no doubt be a feisty fixture at The City Ground.

Amorim will be hoping for the possible return of two players in the coming days as he considers who to start this coming weekend.

Harry Maguire

What happened: After a brilliant display against Liverpool at Anfield, Harry Maguire suffered a knock in the week and did not make the squad to face Brighton.

What was said: “Hopefully, he’s going to join us next week, but we’ll see,” Amorim said of Maguire amid the win over Brighton.

“I hope to have him next week. It’s a simple thing but you never know. And I don’t like to take risks with players. It’s the wrong thing for Harry and for the team-mates that are working. I just want to show, every time, everyone is important in this team. We have a very good squad.”

Expected return date: 1 November – Nottingham Forest (A)

Lisandro Martínez

What happened: Lisandro Martínez has not been involved in any United squad since suffering an ACL injury in February, but has returned to individual training and is expected to rejoin the group soon.

What was said: “I don’t know when he will be fit,” Amorim said last Friday. “He trained really well, not with us but on the next pitch, and I was watching the training.

“He is feeling well and responding well, so I don’t want to say a specific day or one week, but he is near to start training with the team.” Amorim added, “Then it depends on the rhythm of Licha, if he wins the place or not. That will depend on him, but he is closer to a return to training.”

Expected return date: 8 November – Tottenham Hotspur (A)

Mason Mount

What happened: Mason Mount was included in United’s squad to face Brighton last week after initial fears he may be unavailable due to a knock. However, he was an unused substitute, suggesting that the player is not fully fit, and Amorim did not want to risk an unnecessary injury.
