Michael Carrick will be hoping for injury returns as he prepares Manchester United to face off against Everton in a Premier League tie on Monday evening.
Manchester United are gearing up for their first fixture in 13 days as Michael Carrick’s Reds travel to face Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday evening.
It will be the first time the senior men’s team have played at the Toffies’ brand-new stadium, although the Women’s team secured a 4-1 win over Everton Women’s in the WSL at the ground back in October 2025.
Carrick’s side will be looking for a similar result as they look to overcome the disappointment of their 1-1 draw against West Ham in London two weeks ago, and with the side sitting fourth in the league table, they are in firm control of the Champions League spots.
However, Chelsea are just one point behind the Reds in fifth, with Liveprool also closing in three points below United, so Carrick’s men must be wary that any slip could see them fall back down the table, with a tie against David Moyes’ men no easy ask.
Carrick will be hoping to see a few returns to his senior squad as United train ahead of the Everton fixture, with the latest injury news detailed below.
Mason Mount
What happened: Mason Mount did not feature against Fulham, Tottenham, or West Ham following a knock in training, but Carrick issued positive news ahead of the West Ham game.
What’s been said: “Mason will be probably not for Tuesday, but definitely going into the Everton game he’ll be back,” Carrick explained.
Expected return date: Monday, 23 February – Everton (H).
Harry Maguire
What happened: Harry Maguire was spotted holding his hamstring following a challenge with Crysencio Summerville in the first half of the tie against West Ham. He was then withdrawn in the 68th minute.
What’s been said: However, it has been relayed by United’s social media pages that the defender was back in training with the team late last week, suggesting that his problem was not a serious one.
Expected return date: Monday, 23 February – Everton (H).
Matthijs de Ligt
What happened: Matthijs de Ligt has missed every one of United’s fixtures since the end of November with a back injury, having started the first 13 Premier League games of United’s season.
What’s been said: Reports have since claimed that the defender is aiming to return at some point next month and fight for his place alongside Lisandro Martínez and Maguire.
Possible return date: 15 March – Aston Villa (H).
Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu
What happened: Amid a fantastic run of form, Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu sustained a hamstring injury against Arsenal, with initial reports suggesting that he could miss ten weeks of action.
What’s been said: “It could possibly [be up to ten weeks], we’re working through it,” Carrick recently commented. “Certainly looking forward to getting him back as quick as we can and getting [him] on the pitch long before the end of the season.”
Expected return date: Late March or early April.
