INEOS fuming at two Manchester United results that have “gone down badly” with Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Manchester United’s recent results against both Brentford and Fulham are believed to have unsettled several members of the INEOS camp.

It has been an underwhelming season for Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United team, with disappointing performances rapidly becoming the norm around Old Trafford.

Playing an unsustainable style that constantly leaves the Red Devils open to conceding shots en masse, Ten Hag‘s side have faced 197 shots so far since the start of 2024, the most of any Premier League team.

United’s 1-1 draw against Brentford over the weekend stands out as a particularly dreadful result, with United outclassed in every possible metric.

Without fight and without thought, United conceded 31 shots to a Brentford team that hadn’t reached such high numbers since several years prior to their promotion to the Premier League.

Ten Hag claimed after the Brentford match that United defended their box “quite well,” but the quality of chances United surrended to Brentford throughout the contest argues to the contrary.

Brentford created six big chances, missed five, hit the woodwork four times, and had twenty-four shots within United’s box. Absolutely nothing bar the eventual 1-1 scoreline indicates United deserved to leave the Brentford Community Stadium with so much as a point.

United’s 2-1 loss at home against Fulham at the end of February marked a similar situation, with Ten Hag’s team failing to impress at Old Trafford against a team that arrived in Manchester having won just once in their previous eight matches.

According to a report on Monday from James Ducker, these results have been poorly received by both Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Writing in the Telegraph, Ducker noted that the Brentford result has “gone down badly” with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team.
