Manchester United suffer “huge blow” during Rúben Amorim’s preparation for Arsenal clash
Manchester United have suffered a “huge blow” ahead of Rúben Amorim’s preparations to face Arsenal in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.
Rúben Amorim’s revitalized Manchester United take on Arsenal this week, buoyed by a commanding 4-0 victory over Everton at the weekend.
Amorim has hit the ground running at Old Trafford, guiding United to two wins and a draw in his opening three matches. His impact has been immediate, lifting spirits after a disastrous start to the campaign under Erik ten Hag.

Now, United face a tough trip to the Emirates, where Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal await. The Gunners are flying high after their own impressive result, a 5-2 win against West Ham.
United sit 9th in the Premier League, but with just four points separating them from 4th-placed Brighton, the chase for Champions League football is far from over.
Amorim’s huge blow
While the 39-year-old revealed on Monday evening that Leny Yoro is in contention to join United’s compettive squad for the first time since his summer injury, he was dealt a big blow on the weekend after losing Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martínez.
Both players were yellow carded during the tie, and will be suspended for the tie against Arsenal as both have now accumulated five yellow cards each durnig the first half of the Premier League season, meaning Amori will have to prepare with out them.
“Losing those two is a huge blow for them,” former United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider when asked about the suspensions.
“Going away to Arsenal is going to be difficult at the best of times, so they could’ve done with two key players being available and in the team.
“Mainoo has been out injured and they were being selective with easing him back in. He’s an important player and a real gem, but just after getting him back to a good level of fitness, all of a sudden he’s missing again.
“Martinez looks like being the answer to the issues they’ve had at left-centre back, but he’s out too. So Amorim is going to face a bit of an issue about how he’s going to replace them.
“Does he go like-for-like or does he change things slightly? He’s got options in both positions but it’ll be difficult to maintain the level of quality with different players.”
However, there is a silver lining with the suspensions as it means both players will be able to rest and train under Amorim this week, which is key to understanding the new implemented system.
