Manchester United fans are backing one of their star players to have a turnaround at Old Trafford next season after conducting one-to-one talks with Ruben Amorim.
After a dreadful 2024/25 campaign, Manchester United are working hard to ensure that there is significant improvements made next term.
Matheus Cunha has been signed and Bryan Mbeumo is expected to follow him, while other transfers will occur once United can make some sales.
Ruben Amorim does not only need new players but also has to get the most out of the existing players in the squad, many of which underperformed last season.
Some are simply not good enough to be regular starters at Old Trafford but others have the ability to bounce back and make a significant impact to the team.
United fans backing excellent star to bounce back
Kobbie Mainoo had an underwhelming season last time out after he burst onto the scene in 2023/24. The ‘excellent’ talent was unable to find his best role in Amorim’s system and struggled with some injury setbacks.
Despite this, his talent levels are undeniable and the 20-year-old has been shown to be working hard over the summer alongside Leny Yoro.
Many United supporters are backing the midfielder to return to his impressive levels next season, which would be a huge boost for Amorim.
Let’s go my boys! It’s your season Kobbie,” one fan posted on X in response to his fitness work in recent weeks.
“Can already imagine how good Yoro will be at his peak, Mainoo is class too just needs to get his head round the system and fitness, work on becoming more explosive and more of an engine,” another added.
“Kobbie looking lean again. You forget how much of a gem we have here. Like a new signing going into the season,” a third supporter wrote.
Mainoo holds positive talks with Amorim
Following on from this, it has been reported that the United boss Amorim has had “positive one-to-one discussions” with the midfielder during the summer.
Those reports claim that Mainoo is determined to reclaim a regular spot in the starting XI at Old Trafford next season.
Although he featured in the No. 10 role towards the end of last season, Mainoo is eager to demonstrate to Amorim that he deserves to be part of the manager’s preferred central midfield duo.
Despite speculation about a possible departure this summer, the report states that United have no intention of letting him go and he remains firmly in Amorim’s plans.
