Manchester United expected squad vs Viktoria Plzeň after club drop Tuesday evening hint
Manchester United have dropped a hint as to who could be involved as Rúben Amorim selects his squad to face FC Viktoria Plzeň in the Europa League.
Rúben Amorim is aiming to steer his side back to form as they prepare for an away clash with Czech outfit FC Viktoria Plzeň in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The 2,300-kilometre round trip presents a chance for the Reds to reignite their attacking spark after back-to-back defeats to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.
United currently sit 12th in the competition standings with nine points, just one behind Rangers in 8th place—the final position that ensures progression to the next round.
With fixtures against Plzeň, Rangers, and Romanian side Fotbal Club FCSB remaining, United might need to win all three to secure a top-eight finish and keep their Europa League hopes alive.
Tuesday evening squad hint
While Rúben Amorim only has a minor number of injuries, he will likely add at least one young player to his matchday squad as they travel to the Czech Republic.
As for the Plzen tie, Jonny Evans, Luke Shaw, and Toby Collyer are unavailable, while there is a question mark over the availability of Victor Lindelöf as he has only just returned to training.
However, with United’s U19s playing in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday evening, there was an interesting decision taken to bench Godwill Kukonki, who did not feature in the tie.
With Amorim having up to three defenders unavailable for the fixture, he has included Kukonki in multiple squads, and his inclusion only on the bench for United’s Academy on Tuesday evening is a hint that he may be involved.
SImilarly, Ethan Wheatley started the fixture, pointing to the idea that he may not be involved on Thursday. Jack Fletcher was not involved on Tuesday, hinting that he may fly to the Czech Republic, too.
United’s full attacking line is now available, and Antony was not included in the matchday squad that lost against Forest.
With Amorim able to select a further two players and no known injuries since the Forest clash, it’s likely that Antony, Kukonki, and potentially Fletcher may be the extra additions.
