Unseen footage vs Everton shows Manchester United star made “calamitous” triple error for Beto’s goal

Unseen footage has emerged that shows one Manchester United star made a “calamitous” triple error for Everton’s first goal on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester United fought back from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw against Everton, with second-half strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte earning Rúben Amorim’s side a hard-fought point at Goodison Park.
Everton started with relentless energy, pressing United high up the pitch and forcing mistakes. Their breakthrough came after 20 minutes when Beto capitalised on poor defending to slot home his fifth goal in four matches.
The hosts doubled their lead ten minutes later as Abdoulaye Doucouré muscled past Harry Maguire to fire in a rebound after André Onana’s save, leaving United struggling at the break.
United improved in the second half but still found themselves second-best for long stretches. However, with 20 minutes remaining, Fernandes ignited the comeback with a stunning free kick that curled into the top corner. Moments later, Ugarte completed the turnaround with a brilliant strike from the edge of the box, setting up a tense finale.
The drama continued late on when Matthijs de Ligt brought down Ashley Young in the penalty area, seemingly gifting Everton a last-minute spot-kick. But after a VAR review, the decision was overturned, ensuring United held on for a battling draw.
Fresh angle of Beto’s goal emerges
It is a well-established fact that United are very poor at defending set pieces, with corners a particular worry under Amorim after the club went through a phase of conceding goals from dead ball situations almost every single week.
Against Everton, the story was no different, as Beto’s opening goal came from United failing to clear the ball after it was swung in from a corner.
Fresh footage of the goal, which was initially filmed by an Everton fan and can be viewed below, shows United players attempted a total of seven clearances before the ball dropped kindly for Beto, who finished in style after United’s “calamitous” defending.
United’s defence has been shakey against physical opposition in the last few months, and the side have kept just two clean sheets across 11 fixtures so far this season, which is alarming.
Footage shows the real issue against Everton
As has been pointed out by fans, of the seven attempted clearances, three of them were made by Harry Maguire, with the United centre-back heading the ball straight into an Everton play before failing to track Beto’s run and finish.
The England international was also criticised for not being strong enough to hold off Doucourse for his goal around ten minutes later, with the centre-back completely overpowered after Onana saved the initial shot.

Maguire has been fairly solid under Amorim in the last six weeks, performing well as the middle defender in the side’s back three, but his future is still in question.
United extended the 31-year-old’s contract by a further season during January in order to retain his value and stop him leaving for free in the summer, but they are yet to commit to any long-term deal.
Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelöf are both set to depart Old Trafford once the season ends and their contracts expire, and Maguire may follow them out the door if United feel it’s the right option.
Amorim is said to very much rate 16-year-old Academy prospect Godwill Kukonki, while United brought in 18-year-old Ayden Heaven from Arsenal in January to sure up the back line.
There are whispers that Heaven may transition to becoming a defensive midfielder in the coming seasons, but he was deployed as a centre-back during the U21s’ recent win over Wolves.
