Premier League confirm Manchester United referee vs Everton, he officiated United’s best 2024 fixture
The Premier League have confirmed the match referee when Manchester United face Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Rúben Amorim is set to lead Manchester United in his second Premier League match as head coach, with Everton visiting Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
United began life under Amorim with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town, followed by a 3-2 win over Bodo/Glimt, continuing the solid foundation laid by Ruud van Nistelrooy before his arrival.

This fixture will be Amorim’s first Premier League outing at Old Trafford, having made his debut at the stadium on Thursday. With United needing to climb the table, the pressure is on to secure vital points.
Currently, United sit 12th in the league on 16 points, six points adrift of Arsenal and Chelsea, who occupy the top-four Champions League spots.
The Premier League has now confirmed the match referees.
Confirmed officials
John Brooks (pictured below) will be the referee on Sunday afternoon in Manchester. Brooks has officiated five Premier League matches this season, two in UEFA club and international competitions and one in the Championship.
Brooks has not met United this season but officiated the club five times last campaign, including the 3-0 win away against Everton and the brilliant 4-3 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup, which many see as the club’s best game in 2024.
So far this season, Brooks has issued 26 yellow cards in the Premier League and no red cards. However, he has awarded one penalty in the competition.
Simon Bennett, Dan Robathan will be on the sidelines as Brooks’ assistant referees during the game. Simon Hooper will separate Amorim and Sean Dyche as the fourth official on Sunday afternoon.
Andy Madley has been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee, as he was in the last United game against Leicester City. Sian Massey-Ellis will act as assistant VAR.
