One Manchester United star has been tipped for stardom during the 2024 European Championships following his “horrible” treatment from his teammates on the pitch.

Rasmus Højlund‘s first season at Manchester United was a mixed bag, with fantastic goals mixed in with bouts of inconsistent form.

Højlund ended the campaign as the club’s top scorer, having scored 16 across all competitions, including five in the Champions League. He also finished with an FA Cup to his name, performing well ahead of the 2024 European Championships.

Some have speculated that part of Højlund’s struggles at times this season have been due to a lack of service from his teammates, with the side generally struggling to string together attacks for the 21-year-old to finish off.

However, with the young star now leading the line for his country during the Euros, former United player Paul Parker believes he will not be treated in the same way, eyeing him as a key player for Denmark.

“Rasmus Højlund and Joachim Andersen will be vital for Denmark,” Parker told SpilXperten. “They will be their two most important players in my eyes.

“I know that Andreas Christensen is important, but for me, Joachim Andersen is better, and he is also in better form.”

“I am sure that Højlund will come to the Euro 2024 with a lot of confidence, considering how his personal season has been for Manchester United. I am really looking forward to seeing him play for Denmark, also in terms of seeing how they utilize his qualities compared to Manchester United.”

“I also expect that his teammates will take pride in servicing him better, as he has been treated horrible by his teammates at Manchester United in that regard.”

Højlund and his Denmark compatriots will open their campaign with a tough fixture against Slovenia on Thursday before facing England in a huge clash the following Thursday.

They will round out the group stage with a fixture against Serbia five days later, on Tuesday. They will need to qualify in the top two of their group to reach the knockout stages.
