Manchester United have been told they should look to sign an “incredible” Premier League star to replace two players who have been “useless” for Rúben Amorim.

Manchester United are preparing to reinforce their midfield this summer as Rúben Amorim looks to address ongoing issues in the centre of the pitch.

Creativity has been a major concern for United throughout the season, with the team often struggling to break down defences and failing to score more than once per game. Their inconsistent form at Old Trafford has only intensified concerns over their control in midfield.

In January, the club sanctioned multiple loan departures, with Antony joining Real Betis, Marcus Rashford moving to Aston Villa, and Ethan Wheatley heading to Walsall for the remainder of the campaign.

Further changes are expected in midfield at the end of the season. Christian Eriksen is set to leave upon the expiry of his contract, while Casemiro is no longer part of Amorim’s plans.

As a result, United are preparing for a key summer transfer window, targeting midfielders who can provide greater creativity, energy, and tactical discipline to fit Amorim’s vision for the team.

United urged to secure Premier League star

Speaking to SpilXperten, former United defender Paul Parker has been discussing who he feels United should look to sign this summer and has landed on Brentford winger Mikkel Damsgaard as an “incredible” player United should look to secure.

“Damsgaard has been absolutely incredible for Brentford,” Parker said. “Everyone in England is talking about him, and I think almost all the top clubs have him on their radar. Anything else would surprise me.

“It’s fantastic to see that he’s finally starting to fulfill the potential we saw during the Euros in 2021. Back then, he was the big revelation, and I think we all expected that he might get a move to Barcelona, Bayern Munich, or one of the other top clubs in Europe.

“Since then, I haven’t followed him that closely, but I was surprised when he joined Brentford, and he also struggled to break through at first. Now, he has truly had his breakthrough, and in my view, he has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season.”

Damsgaard has undoubtedly been a positive, creative force for Brentford this season alongside Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, registering ten assists and three goals this campaign and helping lift Brentford to 12th in the table, four points above United.

Damsgaard can replace two “useless” players

Speaking further, Parker went on to explain that he feels Damsgaard’s signing would help Amorim replace two “useless” players, although he would also understand if the 24-year-old wouldn’t want to join United due to the “circus” currently unfolding at the club.

“I can definitely understand if clubs are lining up to sign him,” Parker continued. “Arsenal could really use a creative player like him. He has been significantly better than Ødegaard this season, and the rest of their midfield is nowhere near creative enough.

“Manchester United could also use him in the attacking midfield role, and he would obviously go straight into the starting lineup. [Alejandro] Garnacho and [Joshua] Zirkzee have played that position a lot, but they are downright useless.

[Bruno] Fernandes is the only creative midfielder, and he would link up well with Damsgaard. Maybe Fernandes could even drop deeper so that Fernandes, Damsgaard, and Amad could all be on the pitch at the same time.”

“If I were Damsgaard, though, I would really hesitate before signing with Manchester United. He can just ask his Danish friends if they enjoy being at the club. They would probably say no and advise him to stay far away from ‘Circus United.’”
