Rúben Amorim has delivered the latest injury news surrounding Manchester United as Crystal Palace lose a star player ahead of the Premier League encounter.

Manchester United are returning to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon as they line up to face Crystal Palace back on home turf.

Rúben Amorim’s men have won five of their seven games this year, including three in a row, and are returning to Old Trafford after a 2-0 victory away from home against FCSB thanks to goals from Diogo Dalot and Kobbie Mainoo.

United sit 12th in the ahead of game week 24, sitting two points above Palace, but Amorim will be looking to continue his side’s good form.

Old Trafford has been a problem ground for United of late, with the club having lost multiple key fixtures in the league at the ground, but with an uptick in overall form across 2025, they will be looking to put this problem to bed on Sunday.

Amorim provides Shaw injury update

On Wednesday morning, United fans were delivered a fantastic piece of news when it was announced that Luke Shaw had returned to training with the first-team squad, although he did not fly to Romania with the team that defeated FCSB.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Crystal Palace time, Amorim explained that he feels Shaw needs a little bit more time to train, but then once the moment is right, the English left-back will return.

“It will take a little bit more time,” said Amorim. “I think he needs to train more, to spend more time with his teammates playing as normal, even small sided games. Not just working alone.

“He stayed [in Manchester] to do a different type of work. He’s going to get together with the team when we arrive [back in Manchester]. And start from there. When I feel it is the right moment, we will start with some minutes in the games.”

Beyond Shaw’s absence, the only two others who have been missing training are Mason Mount and Jonny Evans, with the former not expected to return until March.

Marcus Rashford is in full training but is still in exile from the matchday squad, with Amorim explaining that he wants to see more application from the winger before he returns to the side should he not leave on loan this winter.

Crystal Palace without star player

For the visitors, manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that star player Eberechi Eze has been ruled out of the Old Trafford fixture.

“We will also miss Eberechi on Sunday,” Glasner said. “He’s struggled the last weeks and months. He got a knock in the League Cup game [against Arsenal] at the Emirates and since then he’s always had pain, training and not training, playing and then taking him off…

“Last week he almost didn’t train the whole week, and this week it started again. We want to get him pain-free, so he can perform at his best level, so he won’t go with us to Manchester.”

Cheick Doucoure and Chadi Riad have knee injuries and are out for the season, while Joel Ward is also not part of the squad.

Matheus Franca and Adam Wharton have been training this week and will likely return, while new signing Romain Esse netted on his debut during their defeat against Brentford on the weekend.
