Man Utd could make third January sale after Marcus Rashford & Christian Eriksen, says Fabrizio Romano
Manchester United will likely be active in the January transfer market, with several sales expected at Old Trafford.
Manchester United’s form under Ruben Amorim has been inconsistent, with the team recording five wins in nine matches so far.
After an impressive 2-1 victory over Manchester City last weekend, they suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Despite these mixed results, Amorim remains focused on the team’s development within his preferred tactical system.
While some players have thrived under his approach, others have struggled to adapt. It’s evident that the 39-year-old will need reinforcements to fully implement his vision.
Given the club’s current financial situation, United will likely need to offload players to raise funds for the signings Amorim requires.
Rashford and Eriksen available for January transfers
United could potentially make sales in the January transfer window depending on the offers which come in.
Marcus Rashford has admitted that he is open to a ‘new challenge’ away from Old Trafford and various reports have suggested that United are looking to sell the player.
Whether or not mid-season offers come in for the 27-year-old remain to be seen. He is on around £300,000-a-week and is valued at around £40 million.
Christian Eriksen’s departure seems like it could be more likely, with the midfielder having played just twice under Amorim so far.
The Dane’s contract runs out at the end of the season, and Fabrizio Romano has already revealed that United will not be extending his deal.
Reports have explained that United would be open to any sale of the 32-year-old next month so they can generate some money – since he joined the club for free, any transfer fee would be considered pure profit.
Bayindir could leave United in January
Now, further reports from Romano have revealed that back-up goalkeeper Altay Bayındır could be allowed to leave United in January.
Bayındır made his first appearance under Amorim in the Carabao Cup against Tottenham Hotspur and made two mistakes which led to goals in the 4-3 defeat.
The Turkish international has made just four appearances for the club since he joined in the summer of 2023 and it seems no surprise that he could depart.

However, Romano clarified that it would need to be an ‘important proposal’ for the Reds to sell the shot-stopper mid-season, as they would likely need to bring in a replacement.
“Bayindir could leave in case Man United receive an important proposal for the Turkish goalkeeper,” he wrote in his GiveMeSport column.
While the January window isn’t exactly the best time to do business, it appears that the Reds will be active over the next month, at least in terms of outgoings.
