Manchester United squad members confirmed vs Man City as Luke Shaw not spotted
21 members of Manchester United’s travelling squad that Erik ten Hag has selected to face Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium have been confirmed.
After completing their pre-season tour, Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United squad has returned to the United Kingdom to wrap up preparations for the 2024/25 season.
Key players like Lisandro Martínez, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, and Kobbie Mainoo missed out on pre-season due to their involvement in the 2024 European Championships and Copa America. They have now rejoined the squad at Carrington following extended breaks.

As United gear up for the new campaign, which begins with a home match against Fulham at Old Trafford, they are also set to take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Community Shield on Saturday, August 10.
While the two Manchester clubs had different Premier League campaigns last season, United secured a memorable 2-1 victory over City in the FA Cup final. However, Erik ten Hag revealed on Thursday that Luke Shaw was among four players who remain doubtful for the upcoming Wembley showdown.
He also explained that Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, and Victor Lindelöf remain uncertain and that their fitness would be assessed before the team travelled to London for the fixture.
“Harry Maguire missed the game (against Liverpool), was a precaution but is still a question mark for Saturday,” Ten Hag said on Thursday. “So we have training, we have to see whether he is fit enough or not to be available.
“Victor played but also he’s a question mark and also Azza (Aaron Wan-Bissaka) and Luke Shaw are both question marks, we have to assess them tomorrow.”
Manchester Evening News has confirmed the 21 players spotted with the travelling squad, with Victor Lindelöf, Luke Shaw, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all missing out. The full squad is below.
