One Manchester United star was “rattled” by a Nottingham Forest player during the 3-2 Premier League loss at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester United suffered a 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford as Nottingham Forest secured a vital three points in Saturday’s Premier League clash.

The game began at a frantic pace, with Nikola Milenkovic heading the visitors into the lead just two minutes after kick-off. Rasmus Højlund brought United level in the 18th minute, pouncing on a rebound from Alejandro Garnacho’s initial effort.

Forest repeated their fast start after the interval, regaining the lead within two minutes of the restart. Chris Wood then added a third, leaving United with a mountain to climb. Bruno Fernandes gave the hosts hope, finding the net with 30 minutes still on the clock.

Despite a spirited effort, United couldn’t turn the tide, leaving Rúben Amorim to endure his first defeat at Old Trafford as manager.

Fernandes was rattled

Former Forest start James Perch was speaking on BBC Radio Nottingham, commenting on the fixture. Although he played for the visitors, it is no secret that he’s a United fan.

Yesterday, during the fixture, he felt that he was seeing captain Fernandes being rattled by Forest man Ryan Yates following a tussle between the pair in the 24th minute, to which Fernandes then complained to the referee that no yellow card was given.

“What’s he moaning at? He’s such a baby, isn’t he? I really can’t stand him when he’s like that. Yates has rattled him.”

The Forest captain, although he did not have his most outstanding performance at Old Trafford, was no doubt a leader for the winning side.

Amorim’s reaction

Speaking after the loss, head coach Amorim was honest on his assessemnt of a tough night for the Reds.

“It was a really tough game,” he told the press. “We started really badly. The first play, we suffered a goal. They scored in difficult moments for us so it was difficult to pass on to the players the job we have to do.

“We controlled the game and created some chances and then we tried to work something for the second half. When we suffer two goals like that, it’s really hard in this context to help the players, to put some calm into the players.

“They try it until the end, with not a lot quality, more heart than quality, but we couldn’t do it, [get] another goal to gain at least a point.”
