Manchester United has seen one of their stars declare themselves fit and ready for the coming season as they prepare to face Brighton in the Premier League.

After a 1-0 triumph over Fulham, with Joshua Zirkzee netting on his debut at Old Trafford, Manchester United now shift their focus to Brighton.

Brighton are leading the Premier League after their 3-0 win against Everton on the opening day. Erik ten Hag’s squad will face them in their first home game of the season.

In the match against Fulham, debutants Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui delivered solid performances and won over the supporters.

All three are fit and expected to be part of the squad that faces Brighton, although Ten Hag has confirmed that four players will not be part of the tie.

Victor Lindelöf was spotted wearing crutches earlier this week, and Ten Hag was asked if there was any confusion surrounding his current injury status after being ruled out of fixtures due to a precaution.

“There is no confusion. He has an issue on his toe,” Ten Hag explained. “So, hopefully, he can return quickly, but he is not available for the weekend.”

Furthermore, he mentioned that Tyrell Malacia, Rasmus Højlund, and Luke Shaw all remain unavailable. “Where as also we have some more [issues], Tyrell Malacia, Rasmus Højlund. They are not available as well. Luke Shaw, of course,” the manager said.

Although not mentioned above, United are also without 18-year-old signing Leny Yoro, who will be out until around November after undergoing foot surgery. Shaw and Højlund are expected back in mid-September, while Malacia will also be out until November at the earliest.

Jadon Sancho missed out on the Fulham win through an ear infection, and when asked if he would return to the team for the weekend, Ten Hag said on Sancho: “We will see”.

On Friday evening, Amad Diallo announced the passing of a close family member, which means the club may grant him time off. Therefore, he may miss the fixture against Brighton.

After a torrid season through injury, Harry Maguire has confirmed that he feels both physically and mentally fit and ready to play. He was fantastic in the win against Fulham and is expected to start on Saturday afternoon.

“I feel good, I feel fit,” said the 31-year-old. “Physically and mentally, I’m in a good place, and yeah, I’m looking forward to a big season.

“There’s so many games this season. I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of changes to come, game to game, in the starting eleven. And when your turn is upon you, you need to take your chance. And yeah, it’s one that we’ll need a big squad for.

“For myself, I feel fit and ready to go and looking forward to the season.”
