Former Premier League striker Glenn Murray has raved about one Manchester United star following Erik ten Hag’s 2-0 win over Brighton on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United wrapped up their 2023/24 Premier League season with a 2-0 win against Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

Second-half goals from Diogo Dalot and Rasmus Højlund secured the victory for Erik ten Hag’s squad. Despite this positive finish, United ended up eighth in the league table, their worst placement ever in the competition.

United now turn their attention to the FA Cup final at Wembley next weekend, where they will face Manchester City. City recently secured their fourth consecutive league title, and Ten Hag’s men will be aiming to upset their celebrations.

Speaking on BBC’s Final Score on Sunday, former Brighton and Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray singled out “wonderful” Højlund for his work this season despite a difficult campaign to be a striker.

“Rasmus Højlund is a top striker, but he doesn’t get the service he deserves at Man United,” Murray explained.

“I have been impressed by how he’s not allowed the circumstances affect him – he is young and full of energy. Højlund is a wonderful centre forward.”

Murray was not the only one to praise the 21-year-old after his performance off the bench; his teammate Dalot also chipped in, explaining what he told Højlund after his goal.

“Yeah, I mean, I told him straight away after the goal, this is the type of mentality that we want,” the defender told club media.

“Whether you go on the bench, where you start the game, you need to be ready, fresh, and as soon as you come on, if it’s five minutes, one minute, 15, 20, you need to give everything.

“And he’s been showing, especially these last two games when he comes on, he gives energy to the team.

“He’s fresh, he’s strong, winning duels. This is the Rasmus that we want to see all season, and I’m really happy with him.”
