Manchester United have been dealt an “encouraging” update on Ayden Heaven’s injury as the timeline relating to confirmation of his injury status is revealed.

Manchester United picked up their best Premier League win in months last weekend as Rúben Amorim’s men thoroughly defeated Leicester City 3-0 on a chilly Sunday evening in the Midlands.

Goals from Rasmus Højlund, Alejandro Garnacho, and Bruno Fernandes sealed off the victory and have injected belief into the club ahead of the March international break.

There were also other positives to take from the fixture, with Harry Amass making his first-team debut on his 18th birthday and yet another positive performance from teenage centre-back Ayden Heaven.

After a fantastic first half, Heaven was struck with an apparent ankle injury and has to be stretchered off, much to the dismay of United’s travelling fans and those watching around the world.

United handed “encouraging” Heaven update

When the 18-year-old went down, he immediately put up his hand for medical attention, and once he was stretchered off, many feared the worst for the youngster.

However, subsequent analysis from injury experts has stated that unless the player has suffered a lower leg fracture, he may be able to return to action in just a few weeks.

Former United player Dion Dublin was on duty with Premier League Productions to analyse the fixture and so saw Heaven’s injury first-hand, initially stating his worry regarding the severity of the problem.

However, Heaven was then seen walking out of the King Power Stadium with a protective boot on but no crutches or additional support, which Dublin sees as an “encouraging” sign.

“That is encouraging, that is encouraging most definitely,” Dublin said on The Weekend Wrap.

“18 years old, he’s under no pressure at all, looks like he’s played in the first-team for ages, drawing fouls, knowing what he’s doing, taking pressure of his team, that’s what defenders do, that’s what he should be doing.”

When will we hear confirmation Heaven’s injury

It’s likely that United will not be able to issue any confirmation surrounding the extent of Heaven’s injury until later this week at the earliest, although the player himself explained on Tuesday afternoon that he is “recovering fast” in a message on Instagram.

Having been spotted walking with a protective boot after the game is a sign that he has not suffered a lower leg fracture, which would reduce the length of time before he can return, but Amorim admitted after the game that the club are yet to know the specifics.

Generally, clubs want to wait 24 to 48 hours before conducting thorough scans and assessments, and with Heaven not heading off to international duty this week, United have plenty of time to understand the extent of the centre-back’s issue.

With smaller injuries, United tend not to release official statements or updates, meaning it may be the case that confirmation surrounding Heaven’s injury may come via reports in the press.

Should neither of these happen, Amorim is scheduled to hold a press conference late next week ahead of United’s trip to play Nottingham Forest on 1 April, where journalists will be able to ask for an update on Heaven’s recovery.
