Manchester United confirm Rúben Amorim XI vs Arsenal as Alejandro Garnacho starts (FA Cup)
Manchester United have confirmed that Rúben Amorim has chosen to start Alejandro Garnacho as they line up to face Arsenal in the FA Cup third round.
Manchester United begin their FA Cup defence with a Sunday afternoon showdown against Arsenal in North London.
Back in May 2024, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo scored to secure the trophy for Erik ten Hag’s side at Wembley Stadium.
Eight months on, the team is now led by 39-year-old Rúben Amorim, who took over in October following Ten Hag’s dismissal. While Amorim’s tenure has delivered mixed results, there have been encouraging moments against tough opponents.
The two sides last faced each other at the Emirates in December, where Arsenal capitalised on two corners to claim victory. However, United’s performances on the road against big teams have earned widespread praise.
The XIs have been confirmed below, with Amorim starting Alejandro Garnacho as part of the attack.
Manchester United’s line-up
Starting XI: Bayındır, De Ligt, Maguire, Martínez, Mazraoui, Ugarte, Mainoo, Dalot, Fernandes, Garnacho, Højlund.
Subs: Onana, Malacia, Yoro, Casemiro, Collyer, Eriksen, Antony, Amad, Zirkzee.
Arsenal’s line-up
Starting XI: Raya, Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly, Jorginho, Merino, Odegaard, Havertz, Martinelli, Jesus.
Subs: Neto, Zinchenko, Tierney, Kiwior, Rice, Partey, Sterling, Trossard, Butler-Oyedeji.
