Rúben Amorim handed Amad return date verdict after Manchester United’s positive update
Manchester United have been handed an update on the possible return date of Amad following Rúben Amorim’s news that the winger may return before the end of the season.
Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United squad have been hit hard by injuries in recent weeks, leaving the team stretched during a crucial period toward the end of the campaign.
Lisandro Martínez suffered a serious knee injury against Crystal Palace earlier this month and was later diagnosed with a ruptured ACL, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
Soon after, Amad was confirmed to have sustained an ankle injury, sidelining him for the remainder of the campaign, while Kobbie Mainoo faces multiple weeks out with a calf problem.
Toby Collyer recently returned from an injury as he came on as a late substitute against Real Sociedad on Thursday, but both Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte did not travel due to injuries while Mason Mount and Luke Shaw also continue rehabilitation.
What Amorim said about Amad’s return
When news of Amad’s injury initially broke, Amorim said he thinks that the Ivorian international will be out for the rest of the season.
However, more recently, the head coach hinted that he hopes the 22-year-old could still play again before the end of this campaign, but that this is far from confirmed.
“Even Amad, we’ll see in the end of the last month,” Amorim noted after the 1-1 draw with Sociedad in the Europa League.
“I don’t want to say anything to you but I have the hope to have Amad before, we’ll see.”
When could Amad return from injury?
Following this, the Metro have done a dive into when Amad could return for United if Amorim’s hopeful estimate becomes reality.

Manchester United’s final three fixtures of the Premier League season see them host West Ham at Old Trafford on 10 May, travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on 18 May, and wrap up their campaign at home against Aston Villa on 25 May.
Amorim will also be hoping for his side to remain in contention in the Europa League, with the semi-finals scheduled for 1 May and 8 May. The competition’s final takes place in Bilbao on 21 May.
Given Amorim’s mention of “the end of the last month,” the report states there’s a chance Amad could be available for United’s final two league matches, and the club will be hopeful he can also play a role if they reach the Europa League final.
