Manchester United star must learn from “exceptional” teammate after “pathetic” Ipswich moment

One Manchester United star must learn from his “exceptional” teammate following a “pathetic” moment in the win against Ipswich Town.

Manchester United secured a 3-2 win over Ipswich Town in the Premier League, with Harry Maguire’s header proving the difference.

Ipswich struck early after a mix-up between Patrick Dorgu and André Onana gifted Jaden Philogene an open goal. United responded as Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick forced a Sam Morsy own goal, before Matthijs de Ligt struck from a corner to make it 2-1.

Dorgu’s red card for a high challenge on Omari Hutchinson shifted the momentum, and Ipswich equalised just before half-time.

Despite being down to 10 men, United regained the lead early in the second half through Maguire’s towering header from another Fernandes corner, digging deep to see out the win.

A “pathetic” moment against Ipswich

Alejandro Garnacho was reinstated to the United starting XI after a good 30 minutes as a substitute against Everton last week. “Much better second half,” he wrote after that game in reference to his substitution on the field.

However, following Dorgu’s red card, Garnacho was the man who had to be sacrificed as he came off in the 43rd minute and was replaced by Noussair Mazraoui in order to keep his defensive structure in place.

Garnacho’s first-half substitution did not go down well with the player, who headed straight through the tunnel into the dressing room instead of sitting on the bench with his teammates, which one fan slammed as a “pathetic” act.

AFter the game, Amorim was asked about Garnacho’s actions, to which he replied “I am going to talk with Garnacho about that.” Garnacho also uploaded a rather cryptic post to Instagram after the game, which has not gone down well with fans either.

Garnacho must learn from Zirkzee

Garnacho is still a young player, and he has a history of being a rather fiery player with a temper when things are not going his way.

However, in this instance, his failure to recognise that the move from Amorim was not a personal attack and was rather an unfortunate sacrifice that had to be made for the sake of the team is a little worrying.

Joshua Zirkzee, who was “exceptional” against Ipswich, recently suffered the same fate after he was withdrawn within 33 minutes against Newcastle United in December, with many worrying that this may tip the player over the edge and leave Old Trafford.

However, the Dutch international has since been in fantastic form after he understood that the move from Amorim was simply a sacrifice for the sake of the team, and Garnacho must learn from Zirkzee and copy his reaction in the coming weeks.

Amorim has been quick to praise Garnacho whenever the opportunity arises, showing he clearly rates the 20-year-old. However, the player himself must do his part to understand that he is part of a larger team focus.
