Manchester United star is the second most valuable U20 ‘of ALL TIME’ for his country
Alejandro Garnacho has been rated the second most valuable U20 Argentina player of all time, bested only by Barcelona great Lionel Messi.
Alejandro Garnacho‘s stocks this season have risen ten-fold, with the winger becoming an integral part of Erik ten Hag‘s Manchester United team.
After making his debut during the opening months of 2022/23, he was used mainly as an impact substitute by the Dutchman at Old Trafford – a role which crept its way into the start of 2023/24, too.
However, by November, Garnacho had established himself as a fully-fledged star for the team, starting in every fixture from 1 November to the final day of the season—an incredible run of 38 games in a row.
Being 19 years old, Garnacho is still very much a young player and was recently considered for Argentina’s Olympic squad, but United ruled that he would not be able to play as they feel he needs a break following Argentina’s Copa America campaign this coming summer.
He is highly rated in Argentina, and a list compiled by BolaVIP using market data now has Garnacho as the second most valuable U20 player in the country’s history, bested only by Lionel Messi. The full list is as follows:
- Lionel Messi (2017): 60 million euros
- Alejandro Garnacho (2024): 45 million euros
- Sergio Agüero (2009): 30 million euros
- Lautaro Martínez (2018): 25 million euros
- Matías Soulé (2023): 25 million euros
- Erik Lamela (2013): 22 million euros
- Thiago Almada (2019): 20 million euros
- Exequiel Palacios (2019): 20 million euros
- Fernando Gago (2007): 20 million euros
- Facundo Buonanotte (2024): 18 million euros
Garnacho’s 15 goals and 9 assists during his first 86 appearances at the club are impressive, but what is more impressive is his perseverance to perform during a highly turbulent time at the club.
Forming a fantastic young quadrant with Amad, Rasmus Højlund, and Kobbie Mainoo, Garnacho has very much established himself as hope for a brighter future at Old Trafford.
If Garnacho is beating Premier League legends such as former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero in such a list, that is some compliment.
