Manchester United’s next 5 games after the 2022 FIFA World Cup
Following the winter World Cup in Qatar, Manchester United fans will be excited to see Erik ten Hag’s side again, who have some difficult fixtures coming when they return to action.
The biggest tournament in football has seen 15 United players representing their country, with 12 of those progressing to the knock-out stages of the competition.
It is likely that we see a number of Reds in the final on the 18th of December – which is just three days before United faces up against Burnley in the Carabao Cup.
This means that Ten Hag’s squad could look slightly different initially as he awaits for his squad to be fully fit following the intense battles in Qatar. Christian Eriksen’s group stage exit looks better by the minute for the Dutch manager.
Luckily, as fixtures go, the reintroduction to club football looks somewhat comfortable for The Reds. However, United fans should know better than most to not underestimate their opponents in the Premier League.
Ten Hag’s side will be returning with the top four in mind. They currently sit in fifth and are just three points off Tottenham Hotspur in fourth place, who have played an extra game.
A returning league fixture against Nottingham Forest is one that should give United the chance to secure three points. The promoted side will be without one of their most important players in Dean Henderson, who is unable to play against his parent club.
Following on with fixtures against Wolves, Bournemouth, and Everton, United will be expecting to push themselves into the top four ahead of a more difficult run of fixtures, especially considering that they host an Old Trafford crowd in four of their next five matches.
Manchester United’s next five fixtures following the 2022 FIFA World Cup:

Nottingham Forest (H) – Premier League – Tue 27 December, 20:00 GMT
