Manchester United’s new £13.5 million transfer target this summer makes perfect sense for Erik ten Hag and INEOS.

The Reds have made two signings so far this summer. Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee have addressed two key areas of Ten Hag’s team that needed strengthening.

Now there are reports of potential exits and arrivals elsewhere in the squad. The latest comes with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who could depart this summer for a price between £10-15 million.

United are reportedly planning on bringing in Bayern Munich fullback Noussair Mazraoui to replace the 26-year-old should he leave the club.

Mazraoui almost looked set to join West Ham after a deal between the clubs had been agreed upon, but the right-back refused the move.

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham had agreed an initial £13.5 million price for the defender, with an additional £3 million in add-ons.

After the player made it clear that he wanted a move to Old Trafford, those negotiating a deal at United could seek to land a similar price for the player.

The deal makes perfect sense

While there are differing opinions about Wan-Bissaka within the fanbase, the fact of the matter is that the defender’s contract runs out in a year’s time and he would be leaving on a free otherwise.

Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Raphaël Varane, Anthony Martial, Eric Bailly, Edinson Cavani, Nemanja Matic – the list goes on. United have got to stop letting so many players depart at the end of their contracts.

In turn, they will replace the right-back with a player who has excelled at the top level with Bayern and Ajax for a price similar to what they’re expected to try to sell Wan-Bissaka for.

Of course, it is not a necessity. Other positions need addressing, but with all the factors considered, this deal makes perfect sense for United.
