Manchester United have reportedly identified four potential successors to Erik ten Hag as the Dutchman’s future at Old Trafford looks more and more uncertain.

Ten Hag, has had an underwhelming second season as manager of the Red Devils. Winning just one Premier League match in their last seven, his side have continued to falter at the worst time possible.

According to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, this has led to several players reportedly holding out on deciding their future at the club, as the belief that Ten Hag will be sacked has continued to spread throughout the team.

As a result, several higher-ups at United have continued to look for potential Ten Hag replacements, with INEOS now believed to have outlined four names who could potentially return the side to past glories.

A report from CaughtOffside has stated that Manchester United are currently keeping close tabs on the rise of current Bologna manager Thiago Motta.

Motta, 41, has performed admirably during his time with Bologna. The Italian manager is currently leading his team to fourth place in Serie A.

Conceding just 25 goals so far this season, Motta has turned Renato Dall’Ara, Bologna’s home ground, into a fortress, losing on just two occasions in 17 home matches.

Elsewhere, both Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte are seen as experienced options who could improve the current state of the club.

The pair both succeeded during their time at Premier League side Chelsea, with Tuchel leading the London side to Champions League glory, whilst Conte is the last manager to win the Premier League not named Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has also been acknowledged as a smart option with Premier League experience, but there is an acceptance that United may struggle to fight off interest in the manager from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Chelsea.

In the report, it was also noted that though “initial contacts” were made with former Real Madrid and Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui, United have decided against moving for the Spaniard.
