One Manchester United star has been labelled as the “biggest disappointment” during the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.
Manchester United have had a dire season in the Premier League and currently sit 14th in the table with four games remaining.
Ruben Amorim took charge in November but has been unable to inspire any immediate improvements at Old Trafford, and instead the struggles have only gotten worse.
There have been plenty of underperformers at the club across the season, with those in forward areas taking a lot of attention due to the team’s horrid goalscoring issues.
Ex-Red Louis Saha has made his opinion clear that one of Amorim’s players has been the biggest disappointment in the division this season.
Mount labelled as “biggest disappointment” in Premier League
Saha, 46, was asked in an interview with Mega Dice which Premier League player had disappointed him most this term and his response was quick.
The former striker believes that Mason Mount’s injury-ridden campaign is the most disappointing aspect from the season.
Mount has made just 12 appearances in the league so far this season and had minimal impact on those games, with zero goals or assists.
“The team that I watch the most is Man United. So for me, it’s going to be Mason Mount, because he has been injured all year,” Saha said.
“You know, I’m sure he is working hard, but it’s difficult. There were a lot of hopes and it didn’t work out for him.”
The midfielder’s first season at the club was littered with injury problems and it has been a similar story this time around.
Mount set for make-or-break season at United
It is no secret that Amorim rates Mount as a player and that could be one thing that ends up salvaging him another season at Old Trafford.
The 26-year-old has failed to show a lot of the promise he delivered at Chelsea in his earlier years but many believe this is down to the inconsistency with injuries.
Mount will be thinking that he can build momentum by staying fit heading into next season but there remain major doubts over whether he can actually do that.
If he manages to, Mount could end up being an important player for the team next season but if any injury issues arise, it will likely spell the end of his Old Trafford career. It really feels like a make-or-break season for him next term.
