Man United star in ‘advanced talks’ for new contract after huge pundit praise

Manchester United are reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ with one player for a new contract after receiving huge praise after the FA Cup final.

The Reds will be busy in the upcoming summer transfer market in terms of additions and sales from the current squad.

Importantly, they will also likely be attempting to tie down a few young talents to long-term deals after impressive seasons

In fact, United are in advanced talks with Kobbie Mainoo about securing a lucrative new contract, as per Football Insider.

It was stated that there is no worry at United regarding the England international’s situation, and they are not rushing to finalise an agreement. He signed a long-term deal in February last year but has since become a key first-team player.

Old Trafford officials regard the midfielder as a crucial part of the club’s future, especially after his recent breakthrough into the starting lineup over the past few months.

Mainoo ended the season by scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City. He was named the Man of the Match at Wembley after a wonderful all-round performance.

Alan Shearer was extremely impressed with Mainoo on BBC punditry duty after the final victory.

“When you consider he’s up against someone who we consider the best in the world, Rodri; Kevin De Bruyne, one of the best in the world; Foden, one of the best in the world; Kovacic, his experience is like incredible…” he said.

“So he’s up against all of these players in the middle of midfield, and yet, he’s the one that shines – as a 19-year-old.”

“As important as his goal was,” Shearer continued. “As important as his passing was, as important as his tackling was, one of the most important things for me was when he went body-to-body with Erling Haaland from a corner, I think it was, and he stood his ground, and he was strong, and he didn’t allow Haaland [a chance].

“I just thought: “Yeah, I love that’. That, for me, I thought, on top of all the other things, I’m giving you the Man of the Match just for that, as well as the rest.”
