Man United receive injury boost as Nottingham Forest dealt major blow ahead of Premier League clash
Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount was pictured on the grass at Carrington ahead of their Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest.
The Reds were back in training following their dramatic 3-2 victory over Aston Villa on Boxing Day, which saw Erik ten Hag’s side complete a comeback from 2-0 down.
On Wednesday, those who did not start the Old Trafford clash were involved in a training session at Carrington and Mount was also on the grass as he steps up his recovery from injury.
The United club cameras snapped Mount in good spirits on the training pitch. It was confirmed that the English midfielder was training individually away from the group.
“Hope you had a great Christmas Reds, can’t wait to be back out there with the lads!” wrote Mount on Instagram.
The summer signing has been unavailable since United’s win over Luton Town in early November. Ten Hag has recently claimed that he is on the path to returning to action in January alongside Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez.
That means he will not be available for the away clash against Nottingham Forest this weekend. He could be in line for a return against Tottenham Hotspur in mid-January.
Meanwhile, United’s upcoming opponents Forst have been dealt a major blow ahead of the game during their impressive win against Newcastle United.
Their shock 3-1 victory included a first-half booking for Ibrahim Sangaré. It was the midfielder’s fifth of the season and so he will be suspended for the clash against The Reds.
He has started 11 Premier League games this term and new boss Nuno Espirito Santo has backed the Ivorian to be a ‘very helpful’ option for him.
However, the Portuguese manager will be without the midfielder against Ten Hag’s side in what will be his third game in charge of the Garibaldi.
United will also be up against former Red Anthony Elanga, who moved to Forest in the summer and has been one of their most impressive players. He has four goals and five assists this season.
