Man United insider reveals what Ruben Amorim said in Old Trafford meeting this week
One Manchester United insider has revealed what Ruben Amorim said in a meeting at Old Trafford earlier this week.
Ruben Amorim has taken charge of four games at Manchester United so far, winning two, drawing one and losing the other.
The 39-year-old has been working hard behind the scenes to get his squad used to his new-look formation and style of play.
But he has also been looking to build connections within the club, whether that be those who work within the walls at Carrington or at the stadium.
In his pre-match press conference for the Arsenal game, Amorim conducted the discussion in the press room at Old Trafford rather than at the usual location within the training ground.
Asked why this was, Amorim explained how a meeting had taken place to try and build a connection with the staff in the various departments of the club.
“We had a meeting with all the staff, trying to connect everybody,” he responded. “This facility, the people that are here, are far from Carrington.
“You’re trying to build a connection, to be closer. Carrington and the stadium together and that was the reason.”
Amorim has impressed many of those in the fanbase and inside the club with his approach so far and some details of that meeting were discussed by club reporter Adam Marshall after the defeat to the Gunners.
Marshall, who has written for the club since 2011, explained that he was present at that meeting in which Amorim showcased his ‘charismatic personality’ to the staff.
“I had the privilege of attending a candid chat with Ruben earlier this week, when he spoke to the club’s staff at Old Trafford,” Marshall wrote on ManUtd.com.
“His frank and genuine words, plus some really personal insight, made for an absorbing listen and was easy to see why his charismatic personality can help build teams who go into battle fighting for each other and for the badge.”
We were all told that Amorim’s enthusiasm and communication skills were valuable and it already seems to be proving that way after a handful of weeks.
While results like the one against Arsenal provide important reminders of how much needs to be done at United, it is good to see how many people within the club are completely on board with the new head coach.
