Man United identify two priority striker targets after Wayne Rooney claim
Manchester United have reportedly identified two priority striker targets after Wayne Rooney’s latest claim about Rasmus Højlund.
The Reds have struggled going forward in many parts of the season, and new signing Højlund has been forced to jump into the deep end with no other striker options available.
Barring an excellent run of form through the end of December and January, the Danish forward has struggled to find the back of the net for United.
He clearly needs support next season and Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team are targeting another striker to sign in the summer transfer window.
According to a report from StrettyNews, United’s top striker targets this summer are Benjamin Šeško and Viktor Gyökeres!
Negotiations are said to be underway for United to potentially structure a deal around Šeško’s £42.7m release clause, while Gyökeres is the club’s preferred more senior striker option.
Despite Højlund difficulties this campaign, club legend Wayne Rooney believes that it is only a matter of time before he starts scoring on a consistent basis.
“I really like Hojlund,” explained Rooney on Sky Sports coverage after United’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
“What I like about him is he is always in a position and always gets chances. He has not always taken them, he has missed chances, but I think for a forward, all you can ask is get in the right positions.
“If you are getting chances, more often than not, you will take them. If he keeps putting himself in the right positions, I think he will be a very good player for them in the next few years.”
