Manchester United ‘firmly rejected’ several clubs for starlet – he’s set for ‘breakout season’
Manchester United ‘firmly rejected’ several clubs for one starlet who is set for a ‘breakout season’ under Erik ten Hag.
The Reds begin their Premier League campaign in two weeks and they have made some good progress during pre-season.
Several young stars have excelled in recent weeks and put themselves in the thoughts of manager Ten Hag, none more so than Amad Diallo.
According to Forbes, at the start of the summer several clubs approached United about signing the Ivorian winger.
But they were firmly told by United that he would not be sold under any circumstances.
It was explained that United boss Ten Hag believes Amad is on the verge of a breakout season.
The 22-year-old’s performances during pre-season so far have further proven that. He has been United’s best player in the last three games.
He has scored twice, and an outstanding solo run also won the penalty for Marcus Rashford to score against Real Betis.
“We have to see Amad in a different way. Of course, he’s still young, but he is not inexperienced anymore,” Ten Hag explained after the Rangers game.
“Last season he had bad times with bad injuries. Before that, he was in the Championship, and he had a great season.
“At the end of last season, he had a very good time in our first team and played some good games. Now for this season, this has to be the year.
“It’s great that he starts like this. On Monday he couldn’t play, he was not allowed to go into Norway, but today he could play and he played a very good game.”
