Man United confident that “underrated signing” will help fix huge Erik ten Hag problem
Manchester United are confident that an “underrated signing” will help fix a huge problem Erik ten Hag has faced at Old Trafford.
The Reds have already brought in two summer signings, with Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro joining the club.
Further additions are also expected in the playing squad, but INEOS have also made several changes behind the scenes at United.
Ten Hag’s coaching staff has experienced a major reshuffle, with Steve McClaren and Mitchell van der Gaag moving on from the club.
Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake have replaced them as Ten Hag’s new assistant coaches, while Jelle ten Rouwelaar (goalkeeper coach) and Andreas Georgson (set-piece coach) have also joined the setup.
Van Nistelrooy’s return to the club has been an exciting move, with many anticipating that the legendary striker will help the likes of Rasmus Højlund, Marcus Rashford and Zirkzee in the frontline.
While this is still likely to be the case, according to GiveMeSport, Van Nistelrooy has, in fact, been working closely with United’s defenders during their pre-season tour.
It was explained that his attacking instincts have been helping to give players within the backline a better understanding of how to read the game and deal with challenging scenarios.
The article further detailed that sources on the club’s tour have said that van Nistelrooy has already made an incredibly positive impact off the pitch.
There is confidence that he could prove to be one of the most underrated signings of the summer as United look to build on last term’s FA Cup win.
Last season, the club had major issues at the back, and they were defensively frail on many occasions. It appears that Van Nistelrooy could hold the keys for an improved defensive setup at Old Trafford and that could greatly help the team going forward.
