Man United’s £40m transfer ruled out due to “economic demands” – two options remain
Manchester United’s potential £40 million transfer exit has been ruled out due to the “economic demands” involved, and now there are two remaining options.
The Reds have signed two first-team players this summer—Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro—but are looking to add more in the coming weeks.
It was always clear that sales would be needed to maximise this transfer window and Jadon Sancho seemed like one player destined to move on.
However, after the player was able to resolve the issues he had with Erik ten Hag, which ultimately led to him being sent on loan in January, it appeared that staying at the club was also an option for him.
Reports suggested that United were not ruling out an exit despite Sancho and Ten Hag fixing their relationship. A figure close to their desired £40 million could influence things and Juventus were one club who had strong interest in the player.
Now, according to Matteo Moretto, while Juventus are still trying to sign two wingers, a move for Sancho is “practically off the table”.
It was explained that the “economic demands” involved in a potential deal were the reason why they are instead looking elsewhere.
“They will try to sign two wingers, one of which could obviously be Nico Gonzalez. Jadon Sancho, I’m told that it is practically off the table due to the economic demands of a deal,” he explained on Fabrizio Romano’s substack.
“While Porto’s Galeno is an option, he’s someone they like. Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi is also likely off the table due to the cost.”
United have been firm in their stance that they would be looking for around £40 million for the 24-year-old and that position would have only solidified more once the player and Ten Hag resolved their issue.
Two remaining options
It appears that there are two remaining options for Sancho in the final weeks of the transfer market.
One is a potential move to Paris-Saint Germain, who have reportedly agreed personal terms with the winger, but he is not one of their priority players to sign.
The other is to stay at Old Trafford and attempt to prove those who have written him off wrong in a new-looked system under Ten Hag.
It is appearing more likely by the day that the 24-year-old will end up remaining with the club.
