Manchester United turn their attention back to the Champions League with a clash against Galatasaray after a poor defeat against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Reds were defeated at Old Trafford with Joachim Andersen’s first-half goal being the difference between the two sides. It was Erik ten Hag’s fifth loss so far this term.

Now, they must look to bounce back with a victory in the Champions League, with three points being crucial after United’s opening 4-3 loss against Bayern Munich in the group stage two weeks ago.

Whilst there are many different concerns on the pitch for Ten Hag, he is also dealing with problems off the pitch with injuries continuing to haunt the Old Trafford club.

Lisandro Martinez has been ruled out of action for at least two months after it was revealed that he will be undergoing surgery on his foot again after taking painkillers to play in games against Brighton and Bayern Munich whilst Raphael Varane was still unable to start.

New loanee Sergio Reguilon has also picked up an injury that will mean he’s unavailable for several weeks, meaning that Sofyan Amrabrat is likely to continue at left-back, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia also out of action.

Other absences include Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Kobbie Mainoo, Amad, and Jadon Sancho – who is still yet to apologise to Ten Hag.

Mainoo, who picked up his injury during pre-season, is closing in on a return. The talented midfielder returned to individual training last week and has since been spotted training alongside the first-team squad, suggesting a return is coming soon.

He was pictured at the training ground alongside the isolated Sancho and a young fan, as the United pair watched on as the Under 18s won 5-1 against Newcastle to continue their perfect record in their league campaign.

One player who could return to the United squad on Tuesday is Antony, who returned to training on Saturday morning. He was away from the squad in recent weeks whilst dealing with domestic abuse allegations from his ex-girlfriend and two other women.

The Brazilian has been in team training ahead of the Champions League encounter and is likely to be included in the squad for the game.
