Luke Shaw has revealed one thing the Manchester United dressing room have been speaking about ahead of their clash with Liverpool this weekend.
With the October 2025 international break now behind them, Manchester United return to Premier League action with a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool.
Ruben Amorim’s men currently sit 10th in the table after winning three of their opening seven matches, and there’s a quiet sense of optimism in the camp ahead of the clash with a Liverpool side struggling for form under Arne Slot.
After beginning the league campaign with five straight victories, Liverpool have stumbled to three consecutive defeats in all competitions against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray and Chelsea.
United will hope that a positive display at Anfield can spark a sustained run of strong results heading into an important period of the season.
Shaw reveals what United squad have spoke about ahead of Liverpool clash
Luke Shaw has started all seven of United’s fixtures in the Premier League so far this season. He has become Amorim’s preferred option at left centre-back in Lisandro Martínez’s absence.
The English defender spoke to StanSport this week ahead of the clash with Liverpool and explained how the United dressing room have been speaking about the team’s inconsistency and that it needs to change.
Amorim has yet to win back-to-back games as United manager in his 11 months with the club, which is a staggering statistic and something that the squad clearly know about.
“For us, the most important thing is about consistency. At the moment, we’re winning one game and losing the next. We’ve spoken about it a lot, building good momentum and winning games,” Shaw said.
“The most important thing is building momentum and getting points. Sometimes performances don’t matter if you’re winning games, and winning games is always a better feeling.
“The morale of the team is always better when you’re winning games, and that’s the base we need to build on, consistency.”
United must break unwanted record soon
We are now at a stage where the fact that United haven’t won back-to-back games under Amorim will be a topic of conversation every week. It has been far too long.
The fact that the players are speaking about it speaks volumes about the impact. It is almost like when a striker is going through a patch of goalless games.
When that is happening, everyone usually says that they just need one goal to turn the tide and this is a similar situation.
United just need to end this conversation any way possible, even with a poor performance, and it would be typical if they managed to do so against their biggest rivals.
