Luke Shaw has revealed how new goalkeeper Senne Lammens has fared during his first week of training at Manchester United.
Manchester United wrapped up their 2025 summer transfers with the £18 million signing of Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens, highly rated as one of Europe’s most exciting young goalkeepers.
The club’s total outlay stands at about £215 million, a figure that could surpass £240 million once all add-ons are triggered.
Alongside Lammens, United strengthened their squad with attacking signings Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Šeško, while 18-year-old left-back Diego Leon arrived earlier in July.
Departures saw the likes of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Antony move on, with Alejandro Garnacho’s £40 million switch to Chelsea the headline exit.
Shaw reveals how Lammens has faired in training
The former Belgian Pro League player has had a whole week of training with his new club, and United released images of his first full training session on Friday morning, with the shot-stopper running the Gauntlet, as is tradition for new signings.
Speaking with Sky Sports, Luke Shaw has opened up on how the 23-year-old has fared so far. Despite not having too much of a consistent pre-season, the England defender admitted that Lammens has looked “very sharp” in his opening few sessions.”
“I think us as players, it’s really important to help settle in new players. He’s been really good. He’s trained, you know, a couple of days, looks really sharp. I’ve been really impressed with him,” Shaw explained.
“So, you know, that’s good. It’s always good, like I said, to have new additions. And, you know, I’m really looking forward to playing with him.”
Lammens debut likely to come this month
Although Bayındır has kept his place for United’s derby day fixture against City, Lammens will likely still be handed his club debut in the next few weeks.

The next international break is set to take place in mid-October, and following the City clash, United face Chelsea at Old Trafford, Brentford in West London, and welcome Sunderland back to Manchester amid their return to the Premier League.
Although Lammens starting against Chelsea is a little less likely, Amorim may choose to hand the Belgian his first start for the club against either Brentford or Sunderland.
The Brentford fixture would come after a full two weeks of training and present a slightly more low-key tie to settle into the Premier League, while Lammens would have the full backing of the Old Trafford crowd if he were to play against Sunderland.
