Manchester United players have started to react to Mason Mount’s transfer to the club on social media.

Mount, 24, will sign a five year deal at Old Trafford with the option to extend a further year. He announced his Chelsea departure on Tuesday evening via an Instagram video message.

The midfielder explained that a move to United is “what’s right for me at this moment in my career”.

He will bolster a midfield that consists of the likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes, with his off-ball traits being something that has caught the eye of manager Erik ten Hag.

Following his announcement, his Chelsea teammates took to social media to respond to the news. The likes of Reece James, Thiago Silva, Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell all replied to Mount’s post with messages.

United players will likely begin to react to the news after official confirmation on Wednesday morning but Luke Shaw has already responded to the news.

The United and England left-back posted a reply to Mount’s video which read “My brother” with a red love heart emoji.

Shaw has previously stated that he was ‘sure’ that The Reds would make ‘big signings’ this window and Mount seems to be the first of those. He has also stated that he would ‘love’ Declan Rice and Harry Kane to follow in their teammates footsteps, however, the West Ham captain is on the verge of completing a move to Arsenal.

He added that he has told players within the England camp “how good Manchester is because I know their qualities”.

Kane, however, is someone that United would love to sign but there are major complications blocking a move, none more so than Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Mount has previously stated that he “fell in love” with how Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo took free-kicks, admitting he was in the stands at Old Trafford when he scored his iconic goal against Portsmouth in 2008.

The new signing will be joining up with the current United squad on Thursday ahead of their eight-game pre-season tour.
