Luke Shaw injury update and return date revealed as Man United wait on Harry Maguire news
Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire were both forced off due to injury for Manchester United against Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening.
The Reds were knocked out of Europe following their defeat to the Bundesliga champions in the Champions League and yet again suffered injury setbacks.
Maguire and Shaw both sustained issues in the first half, which led to them being replaced in the game as Erik ten Hag’s sore luck continues.
Maguire appeared to pull his hamstring before Shaw was feeling the same area; a similar area which kept the left-back out of action for a number of months earlier in the season.
However, the latest information from Insider United – who have previously been ‘closely monitored’ by the club due to the accurate information on injuries they have posted – states that Shaw’s injury is not as serious as some worried.
The social media account reported that Shaw’s injury timeline was originally set for one to two weeks. Yet, the defender felt no discomfort when being assessed on Wednesday evening and could be an option to play against Liverpool on Sunday, depending on how training goes before the game.
Shaw has played four consecutive games since returning from a long-term injury, and ideally, he would not need to start this game. But Ten Hag will likely be thinking about the best possible way to get a result at Anfield.
Meanwhile, Insider United claims that United are awaiting the results and diagnoses of the scans of Maguire’s injury.
The defender has emerged as the best option at the back for Ten Hag in recent weeks and won the Premier League Player of the Month award for November.
Raphael Varane is expected to start in consecutive games for the first time in over two months after he returned to the lineup against Bayern.
