Louis Saha ‘upset’ with Manchester United star who would ‘do damage’ at Real Madrid, his talent is ‘being wasted’

Louis Saha has admitted that he is upset with one Manchester United player who he belives would thrive at a club such as Real Madrid.

Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford are two of five Manchester United players expected to leave the club this summer, with new manager Rúben Amorim deciding they are not part of the squad’s plans.

Pre-season is into it’s second week at Carrington, with new signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon meeting their teammates for the first time, while Lisandro Martínez is working back to full fitness.

Sancho, along with Rashford, Tyrell Malacia, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho, has been told to stay away from first-team training while moves away from Old Trafford are explored.

Rashford and Garnacho, however, have reportedly returned to Carrington to train on their own as they look to maintain their fitness.

Sancho last played for United in the summer of 2024 before being loaned to Chelsea following a falling out with Erik ten Hag. Although Chelsea had an obligation to buy him for £25 million, they instead paid £5 million to opt out of the deal.

Juventus are now in talks to sign the England international, but their formal bid of around £13 million was rejected by United.

Saha upset with Sancho and Rashford

Former United striker and club icon Louis Saha has admitted that, amid Sancho’s possible move to Juventus, he believes the winger can be good enough on his day to play for Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain, but lacks the consistency to do so.

“I’m upset with players like Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford,” Saha explained. “Look at Jadon Sancho, if you put him in the PSG team or the Real Madrid team, he would do damage, but only once in every three games, he’s not consistent.

“It’s like he’s playing against himself. Maybe the structure of a club like Juventus might help him. At the moment, his talent is being wasted.

“It’s all about his mentality, and that’s why he hasn’t been able to perform. He has shown glimpses at Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, and he may not be happy with how things are going.

“He can be happy, though, because he has so much ability and a great opportunity in front of him.”

Sancho does not have the mentality to thrive at Real Madrid

Sancho’s burst onto the scene at Borussia Dortmund was no surprise to those who followed him at Manchester City’s academy. However, his time at United has shown that he cannot seem to cope at the elite level.

Some players seem to excel when they are a big fish in a small pond, with Jack Grealish’s performances at Aston Villa compared to those at City being a perfect example of this.

Sancho’s time at United has been challenging, with the 25-year-old grappling with personal issues that have impacted his ability to perform at a high level.

However, his consistently reported lack of effort behind the scenes in training and fallout with Ten Hag have shown that he may struggle to succeed in high-pressure environments, such as at Real Madrid or PSG, where perfection is demanded every day.
