Louis Saha claims one Manchester United star has set a ‘benchmark’ for Ruben Amorim’s squad
Louis Saha has claimed that one Manchester United star has set a ‘benchmark’ for Ruben Amorim’s squad at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim has taken charge of seven games at Manchester United since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon last month.
With four wins, two defeats and one draw, it has been a decent start to life at Old Trafford, especially after the latest 2-1 comeback win against rivals Manchester City.
However, the 39-year-old head coach has been equally focused on getting to know the players within his squad and who fits where in his system.
Several players have impressed under the Portuguese boss so far, while some others are struggling to adapt to his new system.
The one thing Amorim wants to see from every player is a willingness to adapt and listen to his instructions.
Amad Diallo looks to have taken that on board more than any other player in the squad at United, whether in his role at right wingback or in the no.10 position.
The Ivorian winger has stood out since Amorim took charge, with one goal and four assists in five starts. His defensive work has also been exemplary.
Former United striker Louis Saha believes that Amad is setting a ‘benchmark’ for his teammates under Amorim through his determination to work hard despite the obvious talent he possesses.
“It’s down to Amad to perform like this week in, week out. He’s got his head down and he really wants to improve and has the capacity to do so,” Saha told BetFred.
“He needs a better understanding with some of his teammates, but his performances and attitude can be a benchmark for some of them to follow.
“You know that he has quality, but he has courage too and you can see that he’s not fazed.
“Amad can be a benchmark for his teammates and he knows that he’s got quality, but he’s prepared to work really hard.
“The only thing that the fans ask for is for Manchester United’s players to approach each game the right way and that’s what Amad’s doing currently.”
