“Little boy” – Jamie Redknapp slams Man Utd star vs Nottingham Forest, Phil Jones agrees
Jamie Redknapp has slammed one Manchester United star following the 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest and Phil Jones agreed with him.
Manchester United endured a 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest in their Premier League match at Old Trafford.
The visitors struck early, with Nikola Milenkovic heading in from a corner, leaving André Onana with no chance. Despite the early setback,
Amorim’s side stayed composed and controlled much of the first half, with Rasmus Højlund leveling the score just before the 20-minute mark.
After the break, United’s defensive struggles reappeared, allowing Forest to score early in the second half and extend their lead to 3-1 following some chaotic defending.
United were able to get one more goal through Bruno Fernandes but could not find the equaliser and ultimately lost the contest.
Redknapp criticises ‘little boy’ Martinez
All three games that United conceded were horrible to watch from a defensive perspective, especially the two in the second half.
However, conceding another goal from a corner within two minutes of kick-off was equally disappointing and it was far too easy for Milenkovic.
The Forest defender was uncontested in the air and Lisandro Martínez could not deal with him. It was goal which showed the defender’s limitations.
The 5’9″ centre-back was heavily criticised by Jamie Redknapp, who labelled him as a ‘little boy’, after the game on Sky Sports punditry.
“He’s got to be stronger, Martinez. He’s like a little boy there. He gets bullied, doesn’t he?” the former Liverpool midfielder said.
“It’s a mismatch. He’s trying to block him, but it’s an absolutely towering header.”
Ex-United defender Phil Jones also believed that the 26-year-old had to be more physical in the duel.
“Yeah, he’s got to be stronger there. Again, side on you can see the ball, see the man,” Jones added.
