Lisandro Martínez SLAMS Paul Scholes after Manchester United criticism, makes incredible 9-word claim
Lisandro Martínez has hit back after criticism from Manchester United legend Paul Scholes came his way this week.
Manchester United are having a dreadful campaign this year as they currently sit 13th in the Premier League table.
Ruben Amorim’s side have faced difficulties adapting to his new system and results have been far from perfect.
One man who looked to be hitting form was Lisandro Martínez, after several important contributions in recent games.
However, a horror situation left the Argentine defender with an ACL injury in a recent game and he has now been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Martínez slams Scholes after criticism
Despite that, it doesn’t escape him from the ex-United player wrath as Paul Scholes let his feelings known about certain players on The Overlap.
“Even when he [Martínez] is fit, he’s not good enough to win the Premier League,” said Scholes.
The 26-year-old defender reacted to those comments when they were relayed on TYC Sports’ Instagram page on Tuesday.
Martínez wrote in response: “This jinx guy is really hurting,” before adding a brutal nine-word message, “You put him in Argentina, and he wouldn’t survive.”
The comment was later deleted but after being shared across social media, it left fans slightly conflicted.
Was Martínez right to hit back at Scholes?
Some supporters have claimed that it was disrespectful from Martínez due to Scholes being a legend of the club.
However, others think it is a good thing that a current United player has stood up to the ex-player pile on no matter what position they are in the table.
It is beginning to become uncomfortable how repetitive the media landscape is – with former United stars of the past lined up and ready to tell us why the current squad are not good enough.
While sometimes it may be true, it also is not helping. Not often do those players acknowledge the fact that they might have also been fortunate to work under the best manager we’ve ever seen.
It is certainly a controversial topic and it remains to be seen whether Scholes will reply once again to the Argentine.
