Lisandro Martínez’s Manchester United return date has reportedly already been set after the centre-back missed the win over Everton due to injury.
Manchester United got themselves back to winning ways on Monday evening after a hard-fought 1-0 win away from home against Everton secured the side three points and fourth in the Premier League table.
After a first half that produced very little action, substitute Benjamin Šeško combined brilliantly with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to strike in the 71st minute, while heroics from Senne Lammens in goal kept the clean sheet intact.
This was despite losing Lisandro Martínez to injury just before the game started, who was replaced in the starting XI by centre-back Leny Yoro.
The Athletic reported shortly before team news was announced that the centre-back had suffered a ‘suspected calf injury’ and was set to miss the game.
Martínez return timeline explained
Speaking ahead of kick off, United boss Michael Carrick said, “unfortunately he just picked up something during the week. It doesn’t seem too bad at all, but we’re just kind of working through that at the moment, so he’s not available tonight.”
While Carrick gave no real indication of Martínez’s possible return date, Argentine journalist Gaston Edul has poured water on the fire.
According to Edul, Martínez has suffered a calf strain but is set to return to training this week and will be available to play United’s upcoming fixtures.
This would mean the Argentinian international would likely be able to return to the squad in time to face Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
Yoro filled in brilliantly vs Everton
When it was confirmed that Martínez would miss the Everton tie, many expected Ayden Heaven to be the replacement in order to keep the left-footed and right-footed defender balance alongside Harry Maguire.

Instead, Carrick opted to bring Yoro into the fold, with Maguire stepping into the left centre-back role, and the young Frenchman had a great game.
Coming up against a physical Everton front line, Yoro was still able to win all of his ground duels, making one tackle, one block, four clearances, and five recoveries.
Pair this with his brilliant cameo against West Ham two weeks ago, and it feels as if the young defender is starting to once again find his feet and provide good competition at Old Trafford.
