Lisandro Martínez has already outlined most important step to building Leny Yoro partnership at Man United
Lisandro Martínez has already outlined the most important step to building a strong partnership with Leny Yoro at Manchester United.
The Reds are set to complete the signing of Yoro in the coming hours after he completed the first section of his medical at Carrington on Wednesday.
Signing the uber-talented 18-year-old appeared to be unrealistic even when United agreed a fee with Lille, with Real Madrid being reported as interested and his favourite option.
However, the INEOS-led team managed to convince the young defender of a move to United, and now he will be lining up alongside Martínez at the heart of the defence at OId Trafford.
Martínez had an excellent partnership with Raphaël Varane, who departed the club when his contract expired last month. The pair excelled together during the 2022/23 campaign.
The 26-year-old centre-back has explained that one of the most important aspects of their partnership came through their closeness off the pitch.
“Rapha is an amazing player, and I really enjoy playing with him. We always enjoy training together, and we are working hard,” Martínez previously said.
“We understand each other very well. We are talking almost all of the time about everything, football, life.
“I think we are doing an amazing job. As a player, when you have that connection, you can get clean sheets.”
It appears clear that for Martínez and Yoro to build a similar partnership for the coming years, their off-field relationship will be absolutely key.
Yoro is also only 18 years of age and will not only be joining a new club, but also moving to a different country. Martínez will need to take him under his wing and help him settle into his life at United.
Their playstyles complement each other excellently, and many United fans will be excited to see how that partnership develops as they begin to play together.
