Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has sent the perfect message to supporters as Ruben Amorim has attempted to bring back one big trait from Sir Alex Ferguson.
Manchester United ended their U.S. pre-season tour on a high by winning the Premier League Summer Series, rounding off what was a largely promising and productive couple of weeks for the squad.
After a goalless draw with Leeds in Sweden, United kicked off their time in the U.S. with a 2-1 win over West Ham, before delivering an impressive performance in a 4-1 victory against Bournemouth.
Their final match, a 2-2 draw with Everton, proved to be more competitive, but it was still enough to see United finish top of the standings and lift the trophy.
For Ruben Amorim, the tour provided valuable insight into his squad ahead of the new season. There were plenty of positives in terms of fitness, tactical development, and individual performances, but it also exposed a few weaknesses that will need to be addressed in the weeks ahead.
Yoro sends perfect United message
One of the standout performers during the tour was Leny Yoro, who seems like he has improved even further from last term.
Speaking to journalists after the pre-season tour finished, Yoro sent a strong message ahead of the new campaign and explained how United are focused on themselves.
“There are a lot of people that want us to fail and we know that,” he said, as per The Athletic.
“But there are also a lot of people that want us to do great things. We just focus on the fans. We don’t care about what they say outside.
“Everyone said bulls**t about us last year. I understand because we didn’t do really well. But this season will be different.”
Amorim attempts to bring back Sir Alex Ferguson trait
Under Sir Alex Ferguson, one of the key pillars of United’s success was the strong sense of unity within the club. No matter how intense the external scrutiny became, the team remained a tight-knit family and a safe space for its players.
In recent years, however, that protective bubble has faded. Outside noise has had a greater influence, and several players have struggled to cope with the pressure.
Yoro’s comments suggest a shift in approach under Amorim. The focus now appears to be on tuning out the critics and concentrating solely on the team and its internal cohesion.

Ferguson mastered this approach, and it’s something that has long been missing at Old Trafford, with too many players affected by the weight of expectation.
Building a united, close-knit squad is essential to restoring that culture, and it’s clear that Amorim has been working hard to instil it over the summer.
