Leny Yoro reveals Matheus Cunha impact in training, delivers verdict on £62.5m Man Utd star

Leny Yoro has revealed the impact of Matheus Cunha in Manchester United training after delivering his verdict on the summer signing.

Manchester United signed Matheus Cunha earlier this summer from Wolves in a deal worth £62.5 million and he made his unofficial debut on the weekend against Leeds in a pre-season friendly.

Cunha looked bright during that game and has been able to get a full two weeks of pre-season training under his belt already, which has undoubtably helped him settle into his new club.

The Brazilian international was not the only standout performer during United’s first friendly game of the summer, with Leny Yoro also excelling when he came on in the second half.

Not only was the French defender comfortable at the back, but he also displayed excellent ball-playing in the game, which impressed many supporters.

Yoro reveals Cunha impact in United training

Yoro spoke glowingly about Cunha, his new teammate, following on from the game in Stockholm on Saturday afternoon.

“Of course, I think everyone see the level of Cunha, especially last season,” Yoro told Flex from the United View when asked about United’s new signing.

“He’s a really good player, I think he’s going to bring good things to the team, even in the dressing room, he’s a really good guy.

“We need some guys like this, you know, we need some technical [players] working in the team. I think we’re going to enjoy playing with him this season.”

Yoro was then asked whether he had been up against Cunha on the training pitch. “Yeah, of course,” the defender laughed. “You can see in the training some things from him. Yeah, I think he’s going to do good this season.”

Cunha and Yoro will be key for United

Both Cunha and Yoro look like they could be key players for Ruben Amorim’s side in this upcoming season. The defender has been steadily improving since his own arrival at the club last summer.

Injury in Yoro’s first pre-season interrupted his campaign, but now the 19-year-old is looking more confident in and out of possession than ever before.

Meanwhile, Cunha provided a glimpse of what he can do with the ball at his feet against Leeds and we are likely going to see more of it as the squad move through pre-season.

Both players have the exact attributes needed to succeed in their respective roles in Amorim’s system, which can’t be said about many players within the squad.
