Leny Yoro is set to miss Manchester United’s all-important Europa League clash against Real Sociedad on Thursday evening after suffering a foot injury.

Manchester United have a crucial second-leg tie against Real Sociedad in the Europa League this week after they drew the opening game 1-1.

Ruben Amorim’s side will host the Spanish outfit and whoever wins on the night will progress to the next round. If the game ends in a draw, United will head into extra-time for the fourth time since the start of last season.

After a positive performance in San Sebastian, United also showed promise in their 1-1 draw against Arsenal in the Premier League on the weekend.

However, it always feels like a setback is just around the corner at Old Trafford right now and the latest injury to Leny Yoro appears to be the latest issue.

Yoro injury status vs Sociedad revealed

United’s young Frenchman has impressed in recent weeks but was forced off at half-time against Arsenal after receiving a knock to his foot. Ayden Heaven replaced him and looked composed on his Premier League debut.

Amorim was unable to give any significant update on the centre-back after the game. “Leny, he has something in his foot,” he explained. “I think. We’ll see if he’s available on Thursday.”

However, it has since been reported that the 19-year-old will be unavailable for the clash against Sociedad after being seen wearing a protective cast on Monday.

X account mufcacademy91 has released information on Yoro’s situation and while the full extend of the injury is yet to be confirmed, the centre-back will not return in time for Thursday’s clash.

“Leny Yoro is set to miss United’s game against Real Sociedad this Thursday due to injury,” they wrote. “Yoro came off at half time against Arsenal for Heaven after a suspected knock.

“After further tests this morning, Yoro is suspected to have a injury picked up from the game yesterday.

“The extent or the exact type of injury is yet unknown but Leny was wearing a protective cast on today and is suspected to do with his leg.”

Amorim will have Sociedad selection headache after Yoro injury

The injury to Yoro will certainly give Amorim a headache ahead of the next game, and if Harry Maguire is not passed fit for the clash, it will give him a migraine.

Both players have been in solid form recently but could be missing the biggest game of the season so far and there are not many options that can replace them.

Fortunately for Amorim, his January signing Patrick Dorgu is available for selection as he continues to serve a three-game ban in domestic football. His involvement will likely allow Noussair Mazraoui to return to right centre-back.

Matthijs de Ligt will start in the centre of the back three but the question mark lies on who partners the ex-Bayern Munich and Ajax duo, with Heaven and Victor Lindelöf the only realistic candidates.

Heaven received praise from Amorim after his cameo on the weekend but it feels most likely that the head coach takes the safe option and plays Lindelöf in the backline, which some fans will likely disagree with.
