Leny Yoro completely agrees with Paul Scholes about Man Utd’s advantage vs Spurs in the Europa League final

Leny Yoro agreed entirely with Paul Scholes when asked about the history of Manchester United, and having an advantage over Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the Europa League final.

With a Europa League final now on the cards, Manchester United will travel to Bilbao to face domestic rivals Tottenham Hotspur as they hope to finish their subpar season with silverware.

Ruben Amorim’s side made light work of their semi-final opponents Athletic Bilbao, as they took advantage of their opponents injury woes by winning 7-1 across both legs.

The second leg at Old Trafford saw Mason Mount score a brace in his best night as a United player, whilst Rasmus Hojlund and Casemiro managed to take the game out of sight in a 4-1 victory.

One of the standouts across both legs was young defender Leny Yoro, who has came on leaps and bounds during Amorim’s tenure, and he spoke after the game about the prospect of the final.

Yoro says United need to believe

The 19-year-old defender came to United from Lille last summer for £52m, but had to miss the beginning of the campaign due to injury, however, he has recently began to find his feet.

In a post-match interview with The United Stand, Yoro said: “Of course, when you’re playing for Manchester United, you need to believe.

“This is a club of trophies, you know, they win a lot of trophies, and I think, in the final, this will be important for us to think about this to know that we’re Manchester United and we need to win trophies.

“I don’t feel any pressure but you need to be 100 percent focused on the game, you know, if you have a lot of pressure you can not play well, you can not play your game, so I try to not get any pressure.”

Yoro agrees with Scholes’ claim

One player who knows a thing or two about trophies in a United shirt is Paul Scholes, and he weighed in on TNT Sports after the game to give his verdict on the tie.

Asked about United and Spurs final clash, with both sides sitting in a miserable 15th and 16th place domestically, Scholes said: “They both need it.

“They both want to win. Manchester United’s history tells me that they will win it. They know how to win trophies. Tottenham don’t. It’s that experience, the size of the club, and the history of the club that will get them over the line.”

With Yoro and Scholes agreeing that the history of United will be a huge factor, it will be interesting to see whether they can add another trophy to the cabinet, or whether Spurs will put an end to their drought.
