Leny Yoro was substituted mid-way through the second-half for Manchester United in their 2-1 win over Rangers due to an injury scare.

Manchester United secured a dramatic victory in the Europa League over Rangers this week as they move closer to automatic qualification to the knockout stages of the competition.

Bruno Fernandes scored a stoppage-time winner after he met Lisandro Martinez’s pinpoint cross with a measured volley.

It was a much-needed win for Ruben Amorim’s side but there were still some negatives in the game, including injury scares to Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro.

The defensive pair were both brought off at Old Trafford after injury complaints and Amorim wanted to take no chances at all.

“He [De Ligt] has a pain. So he cannot risk [it]. Leny [Yoro] felt pain also, so he cannot risk [it],” said Amorim to club media.

“We have a lot of different players that can play so it was that. We cannot lose anybody.”

United have “no serious issues” after Yoro and De Ligt substitutions

Yoro was making his third consecutive start for the club as he looked to build some momentum after his start to life at United was interrupted by injury.

There were concerns amongst the fanbase when he was brought off but the signs since full-time against Rangers have been positive.

According to UtdMenace, the first post-match assessment of players after the Europa League clash showed “no serious issues”.

It was explained that a couple of players “felt slight discomfort” and that a further assessment would be made during the warm-down session on Friday.

But it appears that the issues for Yoro and De Ligt are not serious, although Amorim will likely rest both players for the Premier League clash against Fulham due to precaution.

Yoro breaks silence after United injury scare

Yoro had a difficult time against Southampton two weeks ago but Amorim showed trust in the teenager by starting him in the following two games.

It is clear that the Frenchman has immense potential and he can also be an important player for the club right now.

More time on the pitch is crucial for the teenager to continue building a rhythm and confidence, and he believes that he is taking positive steps.

On Friday evening, the 19-year-old posted some images of the clash against Rangers on his Instagram page, with the caption: “In the right direction.”

When asked about the potential of the young defender last week, Amorim was extremely complimentary in his assessment.

“Leny, for sure, will be the future of this club,” Amorim smiled. “He’s a top, top talent. And I think he’s ready to play.”
